Arabic Events

Since I was awaiting the pictures, I couldn't just post this event with no colorful scheme.

Two events took place on Saturday 8th and 15th of April 2006. On the first, The UOM Arabic groups had a cultural event in which students are familiarized with the Arabic culture or so they meant to. It didn't have much of the experience to that only of traditional dresses of the Arab countries shown in the picture. Within the event, two Arab comedies entertained us with their hilarious style of joking around politics.

On the other hand, I had the Arabic BBQ for all my friends in Ann Arbor whom totaled to about 42 personal!! It started from 1pm and we were done by about 5pm. Since All are leaving soon, I thought of having one last gathering as I might not see them before leaving back to Dubai. It felt good being surrounded by this group of active ppl.

I can't wait to go home and have BBQ at my cousin's new house or maybe my party too!! --as she promised

MY Graduation Day

You are wondering how can I have a graduation when I graduated almost a year ago and I'm in the States!!

Surely that was something that put me down, not being able to attend my own graduation and be with all my friends... but even if I didn't attend, I still can live it:

I am talking to my cousin as we put on some pink blusher's, kohl, and a bit of maskara not to forget the lip gloss. I look into my reflection and smile really big, "the day has come to celebrate all the hardwork at university; it is time to enjoy the results." I look behind me and take a quick notice of all the graduates smiling, laughing, hugging each other and screaming from happiness. It brings me a warm feeling as I remember the day I came into the University as a transfer student from GWU.

I come into the office hesitant of whether my previous credits would be accepted and worried of the university environment. As I mingle and meet new friends, I feel the urge to be active, something I haven't been before. Within the university atmosphere, a new Hana arises, one that is motivated, energetic, active and loving life.

As I wake up from remembering the old days, we are called upon to be ready to march towards the stadium and be seated, each school in a specific space. I then, as all, listen to Her Highness Sheikha Fatma's word and applaud for her support and believe in the Emaratie women. We then are entertained with a faboulous lazer show and videos of current graduates.

It is time... We stand as they call our names. Fatima Ibrahim, Hana Alawi, Iman Al-Sayegh, Latifa Mohammed, and with every name you hear students applauding and whistling. As I approach, I am given my certificate in addition to two awards: "Honor list student" and "Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Award". As I hear both awards, I smile so big of surprise and a tear finds its way onto my cheeks. I then walk towards my friends and hug them so close.

Here I am on my desk, awaken from such a nice dream.... a dream full of reality except that which I was not part of the celebration, but have received such recognition:)

There are many to thank, Firsty God for His Blessing and endless support and for His guidance in meeting those true friends I have in my life. Not to forget surely My family for everything.. from love to supporting me in every decision I take. Also a very special person in my life who is an inspiration to me.

Thank you all for your endless support, from families, to friends back home and in the States and to loved one...

Now LET"S ROCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK MY LIFEEEEEE with a Celebration PARTYYYYYYYYY!! heheheehheh

Well I guess that has to wait as everyone here is busy with exams, and I am not back in Dubai to have one there:P
